Bobcats
- 6 and under
Development of basic fundamental Softball skills and the
rules of the game. Emphasis should be on the growth
of the player and the enjoyment of the game, with winning
and standings
left as the last issue to be discussed. Games and practices
last about one hour. Games are played on a shortened field
with 50-foot bases. The game is coach-pitched (a tee is used
if necessary) and players will use a 10-inch "Incrediball"
softball. Players are issued uniform
shirts and visors.

Jaguars - 10 and under
Further development of skills, with coaching of the games
strategies. Emphasis should be how to play as a team, with
players sharing in all positions and roles on the team.
The basic ASA skills such as pitching, sliding and
how to turn a play should be taught, but not strongly enforced.
Games and practices typically last two hours. Games are
played on
a full sized, skinned field (all-dirt infield) with 60-foot
bases. The game is kid-pitched with no walks allowed (coaches
come in to pitch if ball four is issued) and players will
use a 11-inch, traditional softball.
Players
are issued
uniform
shirts, pants, socks and visors.

Park and Unami MS

Panthers- 13 and under (NEW!)
The Skill level of the 13U girls should be such that
they are aware and understand the ASA rules completely.
The players should be developed for specific positions (as well
as backup positions), so as to compete comfortably at
the
next level. Games are
played on
a full sized, skinned field (all-dirt infield) with 60-foot
bases. The game is completely kid-pitched and players
will
use a regulation 12-inch softball.
Players
are issued
uniform
shirts, pants, socks and visors. We replaced the
12U Panther division with a 13U Panther division in 2009. We
felt that this restructuring of our in-house divisions gave
more girls
the opportunity to play in our instructional program as many
of these girls are often not ready for the more competitive VIGS
league play. The bottom line: we want to gives as many girls
the opportunity to play softball and we feel that this change
will do just that.
